The Sleepy Hippo low-profile pet bed is exactly as promised! It’s sturdy, solid wood, visibly well made, and the most beautiful deep espresso color. All pieces were securely packed and well marked so you can easily identify them. I found the instructions easy to follow due to the well-drawn pictures of each step. Took me about 1.5 hours from unboxing to the finished product, and I would classify myself as somewhat handy. There are a couple of steps where it would’ve been handy to have another person to hold things, but I managed on my own by getting a little creative with how I positioned/propped pieces. It prob would’ve also gone faster if I’d used an electric screwdriver, but I did fine with the manual one included. The trickiest part to me was getting the last piece screwed in because I’m sort of a perfectionist and wanted it as even and tight as possible without it being too tight. I highly recommend this beautiful pet side bed, especially if you’re looking to gain some real estate back in your own bed while still keeping your dogs and/or cats close!

My dog has slept here every night since we assembled the bed and placed it next to ours. It works great and was easy to assemble. I actually like how it has become an extension of our own bed. Our bed has an upholstered frame that creates a gap between the dog mattress and my mattress. I just used some other foam I had and cut it to fit in the gap, threw a blanket over the entire thing and problem solved.

our rescue dog has separation anxiety and extreme fear of her crate. so she was sleeping in the bed with us so she didnt cry all night. that led to the people in the bed getting kicked and crowded out and lack of sleep was getting to be a problem. I didnt know if this bed was going to work, we put it at the end of our bed. had to built the supoorts around our footboard so it would be flush. the first few nights she wouldnt use it. with patience and training (saying “time for bed” and putting a small treat on the bed for her) she got used to it and now we all sleeping happily everynight.

My husband is very happy not to have a dog between us every night. Now my senior diabetic, and oftentimes incontinent dog, can be right next to me and have her own bed to pee on. I got the low profile so she can hop right on and I can finally get rid of the dreadful bed steps that took way too much space
